Testing to Solis Substance Clogging the Switch-and-Lock Movement of Hokuetu-North-Line
Ikuo SAKURAI, Tamio OKUTANI
On the Hokuetu-north-line it is planned that a high-speed train passes through on a sophisticated
point using a flexible switch and a movable crossing at 160 km/h or higher on main line of turnout.
This train runs through the heavy snowfall regions, so it probably happens that snow blocks carried
by the train falls on the point, obstructing it's action. We are afraid that snow blocks narrow the
rail gauge and cause derailment. For such reason, we tested to select suitable number and position
of points detecters for such solid substances. It is possible to detect such substances over 4 mm
in width by installing two points detectors at switch and crossing on the side of each rail. This
report describes a system of switch-and-lock movement, it's testing method and results of testing.
