Current Collection Efficiency Improved through an Increased Tension
of the Messenger Wire in Simple Catenary Equipment

Simple catenary equipment on narrow-gauge lines is composed of St90mm2
messenger wire and GT110mm2 contact wire. Recently as the mainstream
messenger wire, "type II" is now replacing "type III". As a result, relative destructive
strength has increased with a margin generated in the tension of messenger wire "type II".
In this paper, we report on improved quality of current collection on account of an increased
tension of messenger wire "type II".
