A new structual system applicable to over-track buildings for the improvement of passenger flow is established and incorporated into the design standards. The following are the significant features of this structual system. ‡@ setting many stairs or escalators from platform to upstairs; ‡A applicable to high rise (less than 45m) and long span (less than 40m) structure; ‡B no footing beams; and ‡C using wall foundations. We have had experimental studies for investigating the joint behavior between a wall foundation and a steel column. Further, static and dynamic analysis of the building model was done to check its safety from earthquakes. As a result, a design method for the new structual system has been estabished.
