This paper describes full scale tests on a new rockfall protection system in order to examine its performance. The system consists of a steel net named "ringnet," steel posts and steel wire ropes with energy dissipating devices. The impact energy and rockfalls simultaneously measured with a high speed digital camera, and fence deformations are studied. Consequently, it is found that this system has enough performance against high kinetic energy for its flexibility to allow large displacements.
