More than 20 years have passed since the core algorithm called "SPEEDY" was developed, which is now widely used in Japanese railway companies as a train performance calculation system. SPEEDY can cope with both Shinkansen and narrow-gauge railways. As for Shinkansen, it simulates the operation of Automatic Train Control (ATC). However, a new ATC system, which is called a digital ATC system, has recently made its debut. Under the new system, the train operating method and train running curves differ from those under the former system. Therefore, we developed a train performance calculation system that corresponds to the new system and has a function to calculate train headway curves.
