Development of 3-way Moving Belt Apparatus for U-shaped Guideway in Wind Tunnel Experiment

Sanetoshi SAITO, Hajime FUJITA

A vehicle of the superconducting magnetic levitation (MAGLEV) runs between two sidewalls of U-shaped guideway at a very high speed. The vehicle, therefore, is susceptible to vibration generated by pressure changes by flow in the limited space between the side walls and the vehicle. To investigate such flow in wind tunnel experiment, it is necessary to synchronize the guideway, which is composed two sidewalls and floor, with a flow. We developed a 3-way moving belt apparatus for application in such wind tunnel experiment and measured the flow velocity distributions in the guideway and the pressure changes on the side of a vehicle model to verify its effect.
