Power Supply Technology Division

Profile

We are engaged in research and development on an innovative railway power supply system apposite to the 21st century providing stable and efficient power supply to electric rolling stocks; as our research fields: power conversion at substations, feeding system, structural design and materials development of overhead contact line system, and relevant measurement and maintenance technologies.

Introduction

Railway power supply system consists of substations, overhead contact lines, rails and current collectors on vehicles. Our mission is “how can the stable power be supplied to moving electric rolling stocks efficiently”.
The key technology to achieve stable train operation is measurement and maintenance of the systems including overhead contact lines, pantographs and large current feeding system.
Our current important missions are development of energy saving technique, reduction of maintenance cost and speed-up technology.
