Two types of on-board refrigeration system are adopted at the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line to compare a GM refrigerator and a Stirling refrigerator. On-board refrigeration systems, which involve energization and deenergization, are constructed to effectively use the features of refrigerator, but are designed similarly to ensure easy operation and handling. This paper shows flow diagrams of the two types of on-board refrigeration system, a control flow, a measuring system in the car depot, and typical operation states of the first maglev named MLX01 for the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line.
