The Miyazaki Maglev Test Track in Hyuga City, Miyazaki Prefecture, with an extension of 7 km was initially an inverted-T guideway, but later modified to a U-shaped guideway to perform a variety of test runs.

The major items so far tested there include:

resiliently mounted SCM bogie;

levitation/guiding coils on the sidewalls;

overlapping two-layer propulsion coils;

GTO inverters;

beam type guideway;

turnout facility.
