Yamanashi Prefectural Maglev Exhibition Center

On the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line, starting from April 1997 a wide variety of testing is being performed, to last for about 3 years in an effort to commercialize a magnetically-levitated transport system using linear motorcars, toward the ultimate realization of the Maglev Chuo Shinkansen Line. In the course of 1997 the goal of a levitated run at 550 km/h may be attained.

The Yamanashi Prefectural Maglev Exhibition Center is an establishment run by Yamanashi Prefecture to familiarize people with the Maglev system as the next-generation mode of vehicle transport. The Center offers visitors an opportunity to actually view Maglev test runs, introduces them to the working of Maglev in a simple manner, by means of various exhibits and models as well as interesting video presentations and brief lectures on the project of the Chuo Shinkansen Line.
For the time being, the experiments on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line are planned to take place on weekdays from Monday to Friday, but public viewing of the testing scene will be subject to the testing schedule. Prospective visitors are requested to call the Center Office for information on the test schedule.
