Suggested access from Tokyo/Narita Airport to Palace Hotel Tachikawa

METHOD 1: by direct limousine bus
This method is most recommended IF there is a bus departing soon after your arrival. But as you can see, the buses going direct to Tachikawa are NOT frequent:
  • At Narita Airport, ask any uniformed staff about where to buy Limousine Bus tickets
  • Buy a ticket for Palace Hotel Tachikawa
    Departs from Narita Airport at: 07:25, 10:55, 15:50, 17:05, 18:25, and 20:20
  • Ride Limousine Bus from Narita Airport to Palace Hotel Tachikawa
COST: total 3,500 YEN per person
Travel time, rough estimate, depending on traffic conditions: ABOUT 2.5 to 3.5 HOURS.

METHOD 2: by trains
Economical & guaranteed fastest way, BUT maybe rather hectic with heavy baggage:
  • At Narita Airport, ask any uniformed staff about where to buy JR train tickets.
  • Buy tickets for JR Narita Express (N'EX) train to Tokyo Station, and also mention that your final destination is TACHIKAWA.
Each person will be issued 2 tickets, one for the basic fare, and one for the N'EX fare.
  • JR Narita Express (N'EX) train from Narita Airport Station to Tokyo Station Departs from Narita Airport Terminal 1 at: 07:43, 08:13, 08:46, 09:13, 9:43, 10:13, 11:13, 12:13, 13:13, 14:13, 14:43, 15:13, 15:43, 16:13, 16:43, 17:13, 17:44, 18:13, 18:43, 19:13, 19:46, 20:43, 21:43 (departs from Terminal #2 about 2 to 4 minutes after departing from Terminal #1). About 1 hour travel time from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station
  • JR Chuo Line (orange) "kaisoku" train from Tokyo Station to Tachikawa Station Ask any uniformed staff member if you have trouble finding the Chuo line. You will need to go up several escalators, since the N'EX platform is deep underground while the Chuo line is above the surface. Chuo line trains depart frequently near the times of connections from the N'EX, about at least every 10 minutes, at most every 2 minutes. About 50 minutes from Tokyo Station to Tachikawa Station.
  • Go out of the station to the NORTH EXIT (right side) - ask station staff if you are not sure which is north.
  • Get into a TAXI, and say "Palace Hotel Tachikawa."
COST: JR N'EX 3550 (basic fare 1890 + express fare 1660) per person + taxi about 680 per car
= total 4,230 YEN for one person
Total travel time including transfers, rough estimate: ABOUT 2.5 HOURS.

METHOD 3: by limousine bus to Shinjuku, then taxi to Tachikawa
If there is no limousine bus direct to Palace Hotel Tachikawa for a long time:
  • At Narita Airport, ask any uniformed staff about where to buy Limousine Bus tickets
  • Buy a ticket for Keio Plaza Hotel Shinjuku
    Departs from Narita Airport at 07:05, 07:40, 08:30, 09:25, 10:15, 11:00, 11:40, 12:20, 13:00, 13:30, 14:00, 14:45, 15:25, 15:45, 16:05, 16:35, 17:00, 17:45, 18:15, 18:45, 19:40, 20:10, 20:55, 21:25, 22:35. About 1.5 to 2 hours from Narita Airport to Keio Plaza Hotel Shinjuku.
  • Ride Limousine Bus from Narita Airport to Keio Plaza Hotel Shinjuku
  • Get into a TAXI, and say "Palace Hotel Tachikawa." About 1.0 to 1.5 hours from Keio Plaza Hotel Shinjuku to Tachikawa Palace Hotel.
This method is recommended IF the wait would be too long for the next direct Tachikawa bus, and IF the cost is manageable for you. More comfortable than Method 3 and you can avoid the crowds & walking for a few minutes within the train station to the taxi stand, BUT slightly SLOWER than Method 4 because the bus depends on traffic conditions, but is COST: bus 3,000 per person + taxi about 10,000 per car = total 13,000 YEN for one person
Travel time, rough estimate, depending on traffic conditions: ABOUT 3 to 4 HOURS.

METHOD 4: by train to Shinjuku, then taxi to Tachikawa
If there is no limousine bus direct to Palace Hotel Tachikawa for a long time:
  • At Narita Airport, ask any uniformed staff about where to buy JR train tickets.
  • Buy a ticket for JR Narita Express to Shinjuku Station.
  • JR Narita Express (N'EX) train from Narita Airport Station to Shinjuku Station
    Departs from Narita Airport Terminal 1 at: 07:43, 08:46, 09:13, 9:43, 10:13, 11:13, 12:13, 13:13, 14:13, 15:13, 16:13, 17:13, 18:13, 18:43, 19:13, 19:46, 20:43, 21:43 (departs from Terminal #2 about 2 to 4 minutes after departing from Terminal #1). About 1.5 hours travel time from Narita Airport to Shinjuku Station
  • Ask any station staff to tell you where is the TAXI stand at the WEST EXIT.
  • Get into a TAXI, and say "Palace Hotel Tachikawa." About 1.0 to 1.5 hours from Shinjuku Station to Tachikawa Palace Hotel.

This method is recommended IF the wait would be too long for the next direct Tachikawa bus, and IF the cost is manageable for you. Slightly FASTER than Method 3 because the trains are usually very punctual/prompt, BUT be prepared to be in the crowds & walking for a few minutes within the train station to the taxi stand.
COST: JR N'EX 3110 (basic fare 1450 + express fare 1660) per person + taxi about 10,000 per car
= total 13,550 YEN for one person
Travel time, rough estimate, depending on traffic conditions: ABOUT 2.5 to 3.0 HOURS.

METHOD 5: by taxi
Taxi direct from Narita airport to Tachikawa, easiest if the costs are acceptable:
  • At Narita Airport, ask any uniformed staff to show you the TAXI stand.
  • Get into a TAXI, and say "Palace Hotel Tachikawa."
COST: taxi, total range from about 30,000 to about 35,000 YEN per car
Travel time, rough estimate: ABOUT 2.5 to 3.5 HOURS.
