Session Operation
l Oral Sessions
1. Operational Persons for an Oral Session
- Session Chairperson: 1
- Chairperson Assistant: 1 (RTRI)
- Session Assistant: 1 (RTRI)
- English/Japanese Simultaneous Interpreters: 2
(for Japanese participants, financed by RTRI)
- Interpreter Assistant: 1 (RTRI)
- Room Staff Members: 2 (RTRI)
2. Each session will be 80 minutes long, and the MAXIMUM presentation time for one paper, INCLUDING time for questions & discussions is as follows;
- 25 minutes for sessions consisting of 3 presentations
- 20 minutes for sessions consisting of 4 presentations
- 16 minutes for sessions consisting of 5 presentations
3. The following equipment is available for oral presentation;
- Over Head Projector (OHP)
- Slide Projector
- Video projector for Personal Computer
For Paper Presenters
- Please let us know which of the equipment above you will use for your presentation, immediately by e-mail (if not, then by fax).

- In order for your presentation to be well understood by the Japanese audience, as soon as your manuscript of presentation is ready, please send it to "Alpha Corporation," which will be doing the simultaneous interpretation for WCRR'99. The e-mail address and fax number are as follows:

- Each presenter is requested to gather at the presentation room for a meeting with the chairperson 30 minutes before the starting time of the session. The presenters must bring the self-introduction form, which is contained within the Congress Kit which will be given to you when you register at the Information & Registration desk.
For Chairpersons
- Each Chairperson is requested to make a brief report of his/her session. The form for the report is given at the each presentation room, and it is collected by the Secretariat.
- Each Chairperson is requested to come to the session room for a meeting with the presenters 30 minutes before the starting time of the session. The presenters will give their self-introduction forms to you. This meeting will help you to make your session more fruitful.
l Specialist and Poster Sessions

2. Operational Persons for a Poster Session

3. Session Period
Papers are assigned to one of the three periods (1-3, as follows) and their specific rooms for presentation.
- Period 1;
from 14:50 to 16:00 on October 19 (1 hour and 10 minutes)
- Period 2;
from 10:40 to 12:00 on October 20 (1 hour and 20 minutes)
- Period 3;
from 14:50 to 16:00 on October 20 (1 hour and 10 minutes)
4. Venue
- The venue of the sessions is "Hikari Plaza" located across the street from the RTRI Gate. Nine conference rooms are secured for the presentations.
- Each room will be equipped with chairs for the convenience of holding discussions with the enough space to move around the posters.
- Poster for presentation must be fit within an area with the dimensions of 100 cm in vertical length (top to bottom) and 70 cm in horizontal width (left to right).
5. Meeting
For Chairpersons
- Each Chairperson (in Specialist Sessions) and Session Manager (in Poster Sessions) is requested to come to the session room for a meeting with the presenters 30 minutes before the starting time of the session. The presenters will give their self-introduction forms to you. This meeting will help you to make your session more fruitful.
For Paper Presenters
- Each presenter is requested to gather at the presentation room for a meeting with the Session Chairperson (Specialist Sessions) or Session Manager (Poster Sessions) 30 minutes before starting time of the session. The presenters must bring the self-introduction form, which is contained within the Congress Kit which will be given to you when you register at the Information & Registration desk.
6. Preparation and Presentation
- All presenters need to finish their preparation of posters by 30 minutes before the starting time of the assigned period.
- Presenters must stay in the rooms at their assigned periods.
- At the beginning of the period, brief presentations should be done within approximately 5 minutes (for Specialist Sessions) or 3 minutes (for Poster Sessions) by each presenter.
- Presentations are guided by a Session Chairperson (in Specialist Sessions) or a Session Manager (in Poster Sessions).
- The discussion will be open to the entire audience after the end of all presentations.
