Research and Development of Key Technologies for Speedup of Shinkansen

Japan Railway companies have been making vigorous efforts for speedup of
Shinkansen. Also RTRI has been eagerly pushing the research and development
of fundamental technologies under "ATLAS Project" to contribute to the
realization of Shinkansen speedup plans. Here is outlined the present status
of R&D of key technologies, that is, running stability, ride comfort, adhesion,
current collection and signalling & safety system.
