Development of Measuring Instrument for Contact Wire Wear

It is important for maintenance of contact line on electric railways to measure
the residual hight of contact wire. For the purpose of it, an system using Na
lamp and line sensor camera have been studied.
Field tests on an experimental device were carried out successfully. Using the
results of field tests, a new instrument was manufactured in order to install on
the roof of an electric car.
