Track Irregularity Inspection Method by Revenue-earning Train

At present, track irregularity inspection is done by track inspection car on
conventional as well as Shinkansen lines. One of track irregularity inspection
methods conceivable inthe future is use of revenue-earning train. The method by
revenue-earning train realizes a more frequent and labour-saving inspection.
Therefore it is appropriate as track maintenance system on heavy traffic lines.
It has b een studied how to realize the track irregularity inspection system
that is constituted of car-borne system without an operator and the ground
system coupled with it. As a result, it becomes clear that an inertial measuring
method or a first order differential method is available; it is possible to
obtain the output by mid-chord offset; and it is possible to reduce on-board
processing and data transfer volume through division of job into irregularity
inspection and processing.
