It becomes much more important to control wheel load fluctuation and rolling noise caused by rail surface roughness or unequality of supporting system in ballasted track to establish a repairing system on Shinkansen. Track Geometory Car, however, which is now working for daily maintenance utilizing levelling defect as the index, can't detect such short-wave track irregularities. Taking axlebox acceleration as a simple diagnostic index with which to watch dynamic track conditions, the relation between axlebox acceleration and wheel load has ben analysed statistically. This paper describes a method to identify the cause of wheel load fluctuation by analyzing axlebox acceleration considering its typical frequency, and presents the future image of a system to cotrol and to repair the irregularities.
