Outlook of Maintenance of Overhead Contact Line and Inspection with commercial Car

It becomes important to improve the method for maintaining railway facilities in
railway business. Making full use of maintenance machines, OA systems, and inspection
equipments will be effective for the improvement of contact line. Inspection of
overhead contact line with commercial car seems to be possible from recent studies.
Measurement of contact wire wear by instrument on the roof of rolling stock and
inspection by sensors on current collection pantograph becomes possible. It will
bring about more frequent inspection at lower cost than using special inspection cars.
