To evaluate the performance of a mechanical system such as the railway vehicle,
we can choose two ways. One way is the analysis utilizing the field data and
the other is the analysis based on the computerized-numerical simulation. The
former sometimes involves unmeasurable and/or invisible elements, and the latter
is difficult to match the result of the simulation to the field data. We think
it a good idea to realize a visualizing simulator driven by the field data;
make the invisible element visible; and animate the mechanical behaviors.
Specially, using the observer theory and the inverse problem theory, we have
developed a method of visualizing the invisible elements when the system receives
an unknown input. we introduce the computer simulations and do some discussions.
And we build a system that animates the mechanical behaviors. The animation is
done using the data collected in the field.
As an example, we apply the method for the pantograph.
