A Recent Trend of Materials and a Task of Railway Materials in Future

The trends in the material engineering are separating into two broad streams.
One aims at the ultimate performance of materials using advanced technologies
and the other is at reviewing the convetional materials to find out the most
suitable combinations and applications of them. Apart from these trends, it
seems likely that the idea of minimizing the impact of materials on the earth
environment through these appropriate selection, is widely spreading. In the
railway, it would be necessary to adopt such thinking in materials development
and selection.
