Investigation of Landslide Behavior as Viewed from Groundwater Composition

Hiroyuki SAKAI, Osamu MURATA
The compositions of groundwater seeping out in landslide area are specific, comparing with ground water beyond landslide area. There are many interesting relations between landslide behavior and groundwater composition. But this relationship is not studied in detail, because it is difficult to observe simultaneously movement of landslide and groundwater composition over a long time. Then the information obtainable from groundwater composition was positively used to detect landslide behavior. Long-term observation of landslide behavior and groundwater composition has been carried out. As a result, it is found that water composition varied with landslide movement.
