Performance Evaluation of Geosynthetics

Applications of geosynthetics instead of conventional materials are widely tried
in railway. Reinforcement and protection of soil structures, separation of soil
from water, drainage and so on are required for their characteristics. In applying
geosynthetics to railway, we have to estimate their performances faster and more
precisely with lower cost them ever. Especially we set our eyes on their durability.
We developed original methods of estimating geosynthetics for functions, such as
tensile and compressive creep behavior, width dependence on tensile strength,
hydrophilic properies, opening pore size, penetration resistance and so on. This paper
describes some of newly designed testing methods.
