Basic Evaluation of Current Collection by Arc

Generation of arc, its consumpution etc. were investigated in basic materials tests of
current collection by changing arc current and polarity to study current collection by
arc as one of non-contact current collection systems. Test results show that materials
generating large quantity of arc are titanium and tungsten system. Arc consumptions of
these materials are little and influence of an increased current is small. Meanwhile,
it was found that magnetic control linked to speeds could maintain excellent arc and that
it could reduce noise and EMI of arc.
