Development of a Human Interface Checklist for System Operators in Large-scale Industries
Ken KUSUKAMI, Hiroshi UGAJIN, Kohei FUJINAMI
A concise checklist is made to diagnose appropriateness of automatic systems by analysing and
arranging human factors guidelines, principles, and policies proposed in various industries and
research fields. The checklist is composed of 3 chapters : characteristics of a system (40 items),
allocation of functions between humans and systems (54 items), and human iterface (55 items). Using
this checklist, nine typical large-scale systems are evaluated by the system operators respectively.
As a result, for example, "Troubleshooting measures", "Support systems for operators", and
"Measures against human errors" are commonly regarded as the fields to be improved.
