When stop signal changes to non-stop, the signal polarity of outer track circuit is reversed. ATS-SP (Automatic Train Stop of SP type) system improves the efficiency of this operation and its economic effect by utilizing the polarity change for cancelling ATS brake pattern. We have developed a method of doing the pole change detection more reliably than by the existing version of ATS-SP, and succeeded in removing a few limitations left hindering the introduction of ATS-SP by increasing the accuracy of detection. This paper describes the new method.
