Trends in Decision Support System for Track Maintenance and Key Technologies

A cycle of track maintenance comprises monitoring of the tracks, planning of operations,
technical and economical checks, and executions. It is a very important subject for
those responsible for the maintenance of railway track, especially of conventional
ballasted track, to sustain the track quality at necessary level with the optimum
cost. For this purpose, many decision support systems have been developed by railway
administrations and these systems are supported by a lot of key technologies. In this
paper, you can be informed to a certain extent on several decision support systems and
on the trends in R&D of key technologies.
