Development of the Superconducting Maglev Vehicles on the Yamanashi Test Line

We have been constructing the Yamanashi Test Line for the Superconducting maglev systems to develop and establish the necessary technologies. The first three-car set of experimental vehicles "MLX01" type, which can run at a speed of over 500km/h, was completed in the spring of 1995. These vehicles are designed for weight reduction for levitation running, while many items for high speed are introduced in these vehicles such as high strength body, reduction in air drag and aerodynamic noise and so on.
