It has been revealed that acoustic-absorptive materials are useful for
reducing the wheel/rail noise.
Acoustic-absorptive materials installed on slab tracks are required to
have some extent of durebility at low cost. To develop a low-cost
acoustic-absorptive material, we have examined small particles of
inorganic materials. We found a sprinked layer of small particles had
high acoustic-absorptivity over a wide range of frequencies, and this
method opened the prospect of the producing a new type absorptive
material at low cost.
