The Methods of Analyzing Shinkansen Noise
Kiyoshi NAGAKURA
Shinkansen noise consists of contributions of various sources,
and they are distributed along the train.
To obtain this distribution, we generally use a microphone
array located at the point at a distance of 25m away from the
track. In this paper, we divide Shinkansen noise into four
components, that is noise generated from the lower parts of
cars, concrete structure noise, pantograph noise, and
aerodynamic noise generated from the upper parts of cars, and
explain the procedure of estimating the contribution of each
component on the basis of the data measured with microphone
array. We also refer to the limits of noise analysis by
microphone array.
