Human Behaviors in Earthquake Disaster
Tadashi WATANABE
As the railway is a semi-public mode of transportation many
people take daily in wide areas, an important theme of railway
companies' crisis management in earthquake reduces to protecting
passengers and railway workers from the disaster. It is necessary
to introduce as much knowledge on human consciousnesses and behaviors
in time of disasters as possble positively into anti-crisis measures.
In this note, the process of crisis management is divided into three
phases, with psychological knowledges of problems in each phase reviewed
and discussed as follows: problems on sense of crisis before earthquake
occurrence, problems on behavior in the face of an emerging crisis and
problems on guiding and evacuating people after the occurrence.
