3D Visual Intergrated System for Planning Economical Routes Using Geographic Data
Naotugu NOZUE, Takao SHIROTORI
A visual and interactive economical route planning system
has been developed by coupling the image data with the altitude
data. Available image data are not only remote sensing data but
also nature-of-soil map and fault map. Routes can be defined
throngh image maps on CRT displaying both contour and selected
geographical information. As the cross section of a selected
route can be displayed at the same time, gradients of route
are decided easily. Furthermore, the system can calculate the
total length of sections having the same depth from the surface
and show a bird's-eye view of related area with instruction of
routes from a demanded viewpoint. Based on these functions, a
route plan can be easily drawn up that fits the economic and
environmental criteria.
