We developed the multi-plates type disk brake equipment with
carbon/carbon (C/C) composites disks for high speed Shinkansen.
This paper reports the results of bench-test, that is the friction
and wear behavior of C/C composites disks, the thermal property of
disk brake equipment at braking, and pressure controlled by braking
force fed back. The friction coefficient of C/C disks changed at
low initial braking speed by the pressure. It seemed to change with
the temperature of surface of disks. The temperature of the bearing
of the disk brake equipment was lower than the linited temperature
in reiteration test of brake at 30 minutes interval and 350km/h
initial braking speed. The method of controlling the pressure by
feeding back the brake force, is able to adjust the variations in
the friction coefficient of C/C disks.
