An Experimental Study on the Strength of Pile Cap for Caisson Foundation

Pile cap of caisson foundation is supported by the round area on the side
walls and the shear-span ratio is considerably small. But the design method
for shear of this member under eccentric loading is not established. We
conducted the shear tests for pile cap models of caisson foundation to
determine the shear strength. As a result, it is observed that the shear
strength decreases in accordance with reduction of effective shear
resistance area of the member under eccentric loading.
