Electric Power Energy of Railway

Energy topics are frequently reported in newspapers. There are many problems
such as short supply of crude oil, technology development of substitute energy,
phenomena of global temperature rise by carbon dioxide, and nuclear power
generation by fast breeder. Targets in development of electric energy for
railway are set to promote energy saving and rationalization, while research
is in progress aiming at electric power regeneration by electric power stockpile,
peak cut in energy use, and reduction of feeding loss by higher feeding voltage.
In this paper an outline of those developments and future trends is given.
