Simulation of Crossing Gate Control Effect Considering the Road Traffic
Hisaji FUKUDA
Recently on account of many accidents caused by cars violating the gate,
the alleged safety of class 1 crossing gate (complete with barrier and alarm)
has come to be doubted. Various proposals for improvement of the situation include,
in addition to better visibility, "fixed time control" and "mechanization of traffic
signals", but the selection of the system should be subject to the boundary conditions.
The paper summarizes the results of investigating different gates at home and abroad
and proposes several methods for quantitatively evaluating the effects of "fixed time
control" and "mechanization of traffic signals" by a simulation considering the road traffic.
