ISO 2631 is a standard for evaluation of human exposure to whole-body vibration, and is widely used for assessment of motion environments. ISO has started an examination about Application of ISO 2631 to Railway Vehicles. Sufficient result should be expected from the examination, taking specific matters to railway vehicles into account, although some difficulties are felt in measurement, analysis, and evaluation. European coutries take the initiative in pushing ahead with a similar examination, based on ample data built up at ORE and ERRI, with U.S. leading in similar efforts. Japan should join them, coming up with her own opinion.
