Evaluation of Camera System for Railway Vision

Hiroshi SASAMA
Railway vision is an important application of image processing to the railway, where a picture takenfrom the head of a train is used for supporting the operational control and inspecting the waysidefacilities.Accordingly evaluation of the picture taking system is discussed in this report using a space and picture model named an imaginary tunnel model in which the railway space is modeled as an imaginary rectangular tunnel including the construction gauge.Criteria of position and direction of a camera in accordance with the visible zone of the tunnel are investigated.Additionally estimation of position and direction in accordance with loci of rails in the picture taken by the camera is discussed.
