Development of the Maintenance System for Railway Signalling Equipment Using the Existing Revenue Train

Today, there are a lot of signalling equipment installed along railway to ensure safety of train operation. For maintenance of these equipment,a dedicated train, called "electric testing car"has been used. But this train is operated on the same line section only 2times in a year, and it requires a lot of skill to analyze and grade the data collected by this train.Furthermore recently organization of maintenance and surrounding environment in railway companies are increasingly difficult. We have developed a total maintenance system using the existing revenue train, which can measure resonance frequency(f0)and radical degree(Q) of ground coils for ATS(Automatic Trrain Stop),track circuit current, current and sensitivity of electronic train detectors at high cruising speed, and can analyze and process the data easily. In this paper,we explain methods of measuring signalling equipment, construction and function of this system, and report on the results of field test.
