Study on Lightning Strike of Electronic Crossing

Electronic crossing introduces micro electronic technology to realize simple control of crossing such as check in-check out.On the other hand,there are many reports that lightnings strike do damage to control device of electronic crossing.The majority of damages are system-down resulting from invasion of lightning surge into logic unit.When lightning occurres,many electronic crossings continue rumbling for that reason.To investigate in cause of system-down,we have examined the performance of components,and have monitored test electronic crossing at Hachikou-line by line monitor equipment for two years.
This paper reports on the results of those examinatons,and introduces a technique of protection appropriate for electronic crossing.
