On the Yamanashi test line, a mechanical backup braking system
was installed in a vehicle for the purpose of reliable braking
in the case of an emergency such as an electrical braking system
failure. The on-board backup braking system is consists of aerodynamic
and wheel-disk brakes, and it has been developed and examined
using the MLU002N vehicle, before testing on the Yamanashi test
line. The major features of the feel-disk brake are auto-brake
and anti-skid controls. The auto-brake control realizes a reliable
braking according to the designated deceleration, and the anti-skid
control plays an important role in releasing the brake pressure
when skid is detected.
In this paper a schematic of the wheel-disk braking system and
test results of using MLU002N are presented.
