In the superconducting system it is important to develop a non-contact on-board power source without environmental pollution such as a noise and an exhaust gas. For this purpose many on-board power sources have been studied, fuel cells, ram-air turbine generator, linear generator (LG) and so on. This paper describes an improvement to increase output power and tests about the combined superconducting coils (SC) type LG, including; measurement of induced voltage at the proposed power collecting coils in test running on Miyazaki test track; confirmation of output power in synthesis bench tests of full scale PWM converter and magnetic field simulator; and analysis of load loss and temperature-rise bench tests. A good correlation is recognized between the calculation and experiment of the induced voltage in bench tests and the output power proves that the combined SC type LG system is applicable for practical use.
