Basic Discussion on Gap Control or/and Magnetic Control about Current Collection by Arc

We investigate current collection by arc as one of non-contact current collection systems to ensure electric power of MAGLEV vehicle. Basic test results of gap control and magnetic control of current collection by arc to maintain excellent arc show that only use of gap control is ineffective to stability of arc, but combination of gap control and magnetic control depending on speeds could maintain a very excellent arc. We investigated about high speed air blasting of arc at 500 km/h. It was found that magnetic control linked to air speeds could maintain equally excellent arc.
