Influence of Wave Motion of Contact Wire on Contact Force Fluctuation

M.ABOSHI

For high-speed operation of electric railway, the contact loss of pantograph is one of important subjects. In order to investigate the relations between the contact force fluctuation of pantograph and the wave motion of contact wire, theoretical analysis and experiments are carried out. From the results thereof, at the frequency uneder which the contact wire can be regarded as a string, it is confirmed, the magnitude of the contact force fluctuation is proportional to the vertical velocity amplitude of the incident wave into the pantograph. And the measured values in these experiments agree well with the theoretical results. It is expected that reducing the wave reflection of contact wire enables decreasing the contact force fluctuation and the contact loss.
