A Study on the Hangers Effect on Contact Wire Wave Propagation

K.MANABE, M.ABOSHI

This paper describes the analysis of wave propagation in catenary wire system. The system is modelled by two infinite strings periodically combined with each other by a harmonic oscillator to investigate the contact wire and upper wire vibrations. The transfer matrix method is used to determine the progagation characteristics. It is found that the free wave cannot propagate in the limited frequency ranges, partially with two identical strings, completely with two different strings. In order to confirm the reasonableness of the analysis, the data measured on the test line and the bullet train line are compared with the theoretical results.
