Feeding branch is one of the line hardwares used in overhead contact line. Recently in this equipment severe local wear of contact wire or contact loss of pantograph happen here and there. In order to resolve these problems and offer a new type feeding branch for high-speed operation, a lightweight feeding branch was manufactured for trial, and laboratory and line tests were carried out. From the results thereof, it is found that the temperature rise and strength satisfy the necessary conditions, and contact loss is considerably reduced. It is expected that the new feeding branch will prevent local wear of contact wire, and contribute to speedup on narrow-gauge lines.
