A measurement was done at a freight station to work out a method for the evaluation of the effect of rail joints on train-induced ground vibration. Following are the conclusions from the analysis of the measured result. (1) Under the effect of time constant, it is difficult to identify the vibration due to rail joints in a time series record of vibration level, Which is a standard mensuration for environmental assessment. (2) Travel time analysis of the acceleration record is found to be a good method to identify the vibration due to rail joints.
