In recent years, a large number of natural disasters happened which attracted public attention. Research and development for natural disaster prevention along railways has been pushed as one of the important subjects in RTRI. This paper describes recent trends in disaster prevention technology, mainly about slope disasters, strong wind disasters and heavy snow disasters.
