Estimation of Adhesion Force Acting between Wheel and Rail, and of Friction Torque in Braking, Using Inverse Systems

Hiroo YAMAZAKI

Friction force or torque of mechanical brake is a state which is influenced by friction coefficient acting between brake disk and brake lining. If friction torque of mechanical brake can be measured or estimated, it will be possible to improve accuracy of brake force control, in the servo system which compensates for the variation of friction coefficient. This study presents a method to estimated friction torque acting between brake disk and brake lining in braking, using Inverse Systems.
