A Fixed Point Position Detector of the Magnetically Levitated Transportation System (MAGLEV)

Tatsuya SASAKI

A fixed point position detector measures the division from fixed car's stop point in the MAGLEV station. The MAGLEV system moves a boarding bridge up to the fixed point using the measured division. Position Detection of the MAGLEV system is done by using induction radio wire system. This system has its reliability proved in the MIYAZAKI and YAMANASHI Test Line until now. However, it may commit a miscounting became this system finds relative position to fixed point. And it is impossible to detect a position at the junction of guideway. Because the cable cannot be laid up to this place. This paper presents a new position detector system. The position detection is done by using an infrared laser that measures absolute distance. And this system may have a possibility to find the position at the junction of guideway.
