Recently, JR companies are pushing speedup projects on narrow-gauge lines which have many sharp curves, using the tilting cars of light-weight which have a predictive control tilting system. Realizing the stable track maintenance with introduction of tilting cars which can negotiate a large cant deficiency, it is necessary to analyze the running characteristics of tilting cars on sharp curve at high speed, and to work out the track maintenance method from the standpoints of riding comfort and track deterioration. In this report, we show the result of analyzing the relation between the newly obtained running characteristics data and trackgeometry and discuss some essential points of track maintenance on sharp curves.
