During the 1995 Hyogoken-Nambu Earthquake, many important engineering structures, RC bridges, RC buildings, subway structures and port structures, were seriously damaged. Also the soil structures, such as railway embankments and small scale dams, were equally damaged. In order to propose seismic design method of soil structures against large earthquakes, therefore, seismic stability and deformation analyses were performed. This paper describes the results of these analyses and future seismic design of embankments.
